Summer Love: keeping guest cool when the weather is hot

Happy summer everyone! We hope you are as excited for this season as we are here at Ooh La Love. Summer weather allows you to enjoy your events outdoors but it can also get very warm and uncomfortable. We’ve come up with some yummy ways to keep your guest cool at your summer events.

Edible Flower Popsicle’s are perfect touch to your summer Bridal or Baby Shower. They are girly, dainty and beautiful!

We love the idea of a Champagne Ice Cream Cart during cocktail hour at a Summer Wedding!  Or how about offering guests spiked popsicles at the bar? Check out the recipe for Mojito Popsicles here.

Presentation is key! Placing a popsicle in a glass and topping it with champagne is a great alternative to the mimosa bar at a bridal shower. Check out a delicious recipe for a  Mimosa Sorbet.

Puppy Party!

Yesterday was Baxter’s 1st birthday, so naturally I had to throw him a party to celebrate. I am not ashamed to admit that this is not the first party he has had, and it certainly won’t be the last. Earlier this year he graduated from obedience school with his cousin Dunkin so my sister and I threw them a graduation party, and it was so fun to plan. Some of my favorite details from these parties have included birthday/graduation hats, a treat bar, cake pops decorated with bones and paws and a yummy dog cake for Baxter’s guests.  Check out the adorable puppy pictures, and I also included the dog safe recipe for the cake his grandma makes him. PEANUT BUTTER CARROT CAKE

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1cup of shredded carrot
  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

Icing Ingredients

  • 8oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 3 tbsp flour

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Mix wet ingredients
  • Mix in carrots
  • Sift dry ingredients into wet ingredient mixture
  • Pour into prepared 8″ round pan
  • Place in oven and bake for 40 minutes
  • Mix Frosting ingredients together
  • Remove cake from oven and allow to cool before frosting

Super Easy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! I want to share a recipe I use a lot this time of year to make the yummiest Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I seriously take them to every event I go to during the fall and its a must for Thanksgiving.  Just use these 4 ingredients below and within 15 minutes you  are all done.

PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

{makes 2-3 dozen cookies}

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 box of spice cake
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can of pure pumpkin
  • chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Mix all ingredients together
  • Roll into walnut sized balls and place 2″ apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 min
  • Remove from oven and cool for 2 minutes on cookie sheet, then move to wire rack
