Today is the day! Cecily and Josh started off as High School Sweethearts but today that all changes as they become Husband + Wife. Both Caroline and I have had the privilege of getting to know Cecily the past few years and she is such a beautiful person inside and out. It’s been so much fun planning with her and we look forward to sending her down that aisle to marry the love of her life.
Ooh La Love asked our Bride, Cecily:
How did you two meet? We’re high school sweethearts. I was a sophomore and he was a senior when we started dating. When I was a freshman he shared a drama class with one of my best friends and she heard him talking to his friend about some girl he saw in the quad that he liked and was describing what I was wearing that day. My bff interrupted their convo and told them who I was. We met that week, talked off and on and then he left to go to another school. After about a year i decided to call him and see how he was doing and from there its history
Tell us about your proposal? We share the same birthday month…. February. And with that along with Valentines Day, we always try to do one big thing versus three separate events, date nights, etc. So last year we decided to go to NY for a week to celebrate all three occasions. Second day into our trip we choose to go spend the afternoon in Central Park. He kept mentioning this specific part of the park that he wanted to see because it was apparently a famous hangout area for Notorious BIG and other rappers back in the day. I know very little of hip hop history so I believed it. Of course it turned out to be a lie. We were walking down The Mall and it was there that he stopped me and proposed with a photographer hiding nearby taking photos of us the entire time. He’s not the type to plan ahead so this was so romantic and pleasing to me…. Especially since he thought of getting a photographer so that our family back home could share in or happiness by seeing the photos.
What are you most looking forward to at your wedding?Saying “I do”. And then dancing the night away.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?Moorea and Bora Bora. And we’re sooo looking forward to doing nothing but laying on the beach and getting tanned while enjoying tropical drinks.
Last weekend my husband Ari and I celebrated our one-year anniversary, and I am so amazed at how quickly twelve months has flown by! This last year has been a whirlwind of travel, quality time spent with family and good friends, and professional milestones as we have grown Ooh La Love. With such a busy year, I haven’t found the time to frame any images from our wedding, or even share the full album with our family. Sorry guys! This is actually a bad habit of mine, and I think I have officially been banned in my friend group from ever using my camera, for fear that the photo will never be seen again. Luckily my sweet husband knows this about me, and as a gift had some of my favorite images framed, to honor the tradition of a paper gift for the first year of marriage. Both our photographer Jen Simon and videographer ElmanAdam did such a wonderful job of capturing the love and emotion of our wedding day, and I am so excited to finally share! Hope you Enjoy!
Ari and I were so blessed to have family and friends fly in from all over the world for our big day. Guests came from near and far, traveling locally from Orange County (where I grew up), the east coast, all the way to Iceland (where he is from), so we wanted to make sure that they really enjoyed themselves. We both felt that our wedding should not just be a celebration of our love for each other, but also the joining of our friends and family.
My family pitched in with all our DIY projects, working on everything from creating the escort card holders from oversized vintage frames, to hand stamping handkerchiefs for the ceremony, and much more.
When it came to the design I had about a million ideas, and Jesenia helped me so much in organizing my thoughts to focus in on a natural and romantic vibe, with lots of greenery, candlelight and pops of bordeaux.
To keep our guests happy and comfortable we paid extra attention to the small details, and live music kept everyone on the dance floor all night.
We have a guest blogger today! One of our recent brides, Lauren, has created this “how-to” do flowers tutorial for your wedding! Follow the links below the pictures to discover more ideas.
Lets talk about flowers! Flowers are gorgeous and they can make a room, a venue, or your work desk complete. There are so many different shades, textures and detail in each one. When it comes to weddings, brides are always thinking of cute new ways to style and design the natural and beautiful thing to complete their vision. Did I mention how amazing they smell?
Here are a few fun ways to incorporate flowers on your big day:
1. Add a delicate and simple flower crown to your veil.
2. Belt your bridal party with flowers to bring texture and natural beauty to their attire.
3. Will you be walking down the isle in sand? This is a cute addition to a beach wedding where the sand is soft, the view is gorgeous and the company is ready to celebrate.
4. Here is a fun and amazing prop that can be used for your photo sesh in between the ceremony & reception.
5. And if you are anything like me, adding initials to your big day is a total must. Maybe have a monogram above your sweetheart table? Or spell out the word SWEET or XOXO at your dessert bar? Having these letters filled with gorgeous flowers instantly adds to your big day.
6. And who wouldn’t want to escape in an adorable convertible with floral garland on the back? This makes a cute way to say “Au Revoir” to your guest and an amazing shot taken by the photographer.

Sara and Greg are quite the traveling couple! They met at a 4th of July party in Baltimore, and their first kiss was in Dallas during New Year’s Eve. After Sara’s nursing assignment finished in Fresno, California Greg flew out to meet her and they road tripped back to the East Coast together. A year and a half later, they drove back across the country to move to San Diego, California. Now that is some major road-tripping!
Sara told us, “Greg proposed while we were sailing on the Pacific Ocean, Kelly Clarkson sang ‘Tie the Knot,’ Greg made a ring out of foil to propose with, then surprised me with a diamond ring that was hidden in the cabin of the boat.” The adventurous bride and groom to be can’t wait to party with friends and family this Saturday, and we couldn’t be happier for them!

A few months back I coordinated one of Jesenia’s best friend’s wedding. Since Jes was a bridesmaid, she had to practice some major self control by giving up the clipboard and enjoying herself as a guest, and for those of you who know her well this was a challenge to say the least. Well this weekend the roles are reversed, and I could not be more excited! I get to see one of my best friends walk down the isle, and I know she is in amazing hands with my partner in crime coordinating her big day.
For the last 14 years I have watched Lauren grow into the beautiful, confident and successful person she is today, and seeing her relationship with Justin grow has been such a joy. There is no doubt that Lauren and Justin are perfect for each other – and as Lauren said when they met “It was a match made in gluten free heaven.” At Ooh La Love we feel so blessed to be a part of your big day, and wish you two a lifetime of happiness! Now let’s party!
Kim and Mitchell met their junior year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara through a mutual friend and shortly after that became boyfriend and girlfriend. At the couples favorite beach, Bacara Beach, Mitchell proposed to Kim. Kim told us, “I obviously said yes! Everything in my hands ended up in the sand, he put the most beautiful ring on my finger and for the first time in a long time I was absolutely speechless.” They celebrated their picturesque engagement with their family and friends that same night. This Sunday Kim and Mitchell will be getting married in Camarillo, California and we can’t wait to send them off to their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico.
Carli and Eric are a super sweet Arizona couple who met while they were both working at a sports radio station. With a shared love of sports it was no surprise that their first kiss was after a Diamondbacks baseball game, and the romance didn’t stop there. Eric went all out to surprise Carli for their engagement- creating a fake birthday party invitation for a mutual friend, with a guest list, RSVPs, and all the details. Little did Carli know when she walked into the ‘birthday party’ at a hotel, that the room would be filled with rose pedals, candles, and her groom to be down on one knee. She said ‘Of Course! Yes!’ and the rest is history. Carli told us she can’t wait for her and Eric to finally be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson this Saturday, and neither can we! Congratulations you two!

We love the idea of a Champagne Ice Cream Cart during cocktail hour at a Summer Wedding! Or how about offering guests spiked popsicles at the bar? Check out the recipe for Mojito Popsicles here.
Presentation is key! Placing a popsicle in a glass and topping it with champagne is a great alternative to the mimosa bar at a bridal shower. Check out a delicious recipe for a Mimosa Sorbet.
The adventurous couple, Mei and Jason, will be getting married this Saturday at the Elysian in Los Angeles. Jason proposed to Mei after a gorgeous paddle in the waters of Mendocino, California with a message in a bottle that laid in the sand. This couple to be has been on many adventures together from sailing to hiking, but their biggest one yet will be walking down the isle this weekend.

In just 2 short days Deya and Kevin will be saying “I Do”. Their wedding is taking place in the hills of Malibu, California at the Saddlerock Ranch. The soon to be married couple are glowing in these forest themed engagement photos and we can not wait to see them this Saturday when they finally tie the knot!
